Architechtural Services:
The Rectory, Maulden, Beds.
Client: Kingshall Estates Ltd.
Having established the site's potential,
we developed a brief with the client and then gained agreement
on the approach from the Local Planning authority Urban Design
Officer. Needing a unique response because of the site's character
and context, we developed five bespoke dwellings, which combined
to create a converted farmstead.
PPS prepared full planning drawings and have been commissioned
to prepare Building Regulations Plans and Sections. The design
approach was well received and an approval was gained on the first
submission.
High Street, Stagsden
Client: Private
Achieving a balance between the client's brief and the site constraints
is challenging for any designer and even more challenging when
the Local Planning authority are not keen on the proposals. PPS
were commissioned for the planning and design of a single plot
in Stagsden, Bedfordshire.
The site, adjacent to a Grade II Listed Rectory and Grade I Listed
Church was well screened from long distance views but could not
be separated from the setting of the Rectory and Church. A well
considered Georgian Villa was negotiated and designed by PPS.
The commission lead to building regulation plans and full working
drawings.
Harveys Bar, Bedford
Client: Triple G Leisure Ltd.
We also receive commissions to design conversion schemes for existing
buildings, whether it be new uses or residential conversions of
redundant offices. PPS were asked to prepare plans and detailed
proposals for a new wine bar on Bedford High Street. The Grade
II Listed Building had been used as a fast food takeaway with
offices above.
Detailed elevations were prepared from site surveys and intricate
façade details and metal work details were replicated at
1:50 scale in order to satisfy the Local Planning Authority Conservation
Officer.
